Past Experiences

I have been in gymnastics, dance, cheer, or some other form of athletics since I was 2 years old. Now, as much as these activities helped me learn about discipline, work ethic, and how to win and lose graciously, most importantly, I have been showed how to learn. By being taught new skills constantly, my mind was always absorbing. This is an especially beneficial skill to gain as a child, as it is utilized in every aspect of life, be it athletics, academics, household chores, or driving a car. With the ability to learn well, comes the ability to do anything.

Learn to Teach

After years of being involved in athletics and competition, I had developed a deep rooted passion for my sports. At fourteen years of age, I began to aid coaches in their classes; assisting when there were several small children, or helping to spot basic skills. At sixteen, along with my existing lessons, I was given classes of my own to teach. The time frame where I was both teaching and learning simultaneously, I discovered the most about the training process. I learned that each individual learns uniquely and at different paces, and that being trained in assorted methods and by various instructors can greatly improve one's understanding of a subject or skill. Most importantly, I realized that no one is dumb, or slower than another, but rather, each individual mind is wired distinctively and consequently, those minds will absorb material at different rates depending on how information is being provided to them. With this realization i became a better teacher; I did not stick to one method, but instead tried to discover and utlize as many approaches and techniques as I could find to create well rounded and mature athletes.

With my student to teacher background, I have set myself up with a strong foundation to build a corporate trainer career on top of. Not only do I have a strong desire to learn, but my years of gaining knowledge has provided me a keen understanding of the learning process. As I became an instructor of the skills I had already learned, my comprehension of tthe training development progression increased significantly. As I pursue a training career path, I believe I will be able to draw from my past experiences with instruction, as well as my communication education, to strengthen my ability to be successful in my future endeavors.
